WEDDING CAKES

THIS IS THE CAKE YOU'LL REMEMBER FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

I know that sounds like a big promise. But after 20 years of making wedding cakes for couples across Fairfield County — from intimate backyard ceremonies in Easton to grand ballroom receptions in Greenwich — I've watched hundreds of brides take that first bite and close their eyes.

That moment is why I do this.

My name is Renata Papadopoulos. I'm the owner and cake artist behind Lovely Cakes in Stratford, CT. I grew up in Brazil, learned to bake at my grandmother's side, moved to Connecticut, became a mom, and somewhere in between fell completely in love with the art of making wedding cakes. In 2016, I took that love to the Food Network and won Cake Wars. But honestly? The win I'm most proud of happens every Saturday when a bride cuts her cake and the room erupts.

That's what we're building for you.

Let's be honest — a beautiful cake that tastes like cardboard is a tragedy. Fortunately, that is not something you will ever experience here.

Every cake we make is built from scratch, designed specifically for one couple, one wedding, one day. Nobody else will ever have your cake. That's not a marketing line — that's just how we work.

A HONEST WORD ABOUT WEDDING CAKE PRICING

I believe in being straight with people — it's just how I was raised.

Custom wedding cakes are an investment. You're not paying for ingredients and sugar. You're paying for 20 years of experience, hours of hand work, the artistry that goes into every petal and every tier, and the peace of mind of knowing your cake will be exactly right on the most important day of your life.

What affects the price? The number of guests you're serving, the complexity of the design, and delivery distance from our studio. Simple cakes can be surprisingly accessible. Elaborate sculpted pieces with sugar flowers and hand-painted details reflect the time and artistry they require.

What I will never do is give you a vague quote, surprise you with hidden fees, or talk you into more cake than you need. Visit our pricing page for details, and bring your questions to the consultation — there are no silly questions when it comes to your wedding cake.

And while we're being honest — if someone is quoting you a dramatically lower price than everyone else, ask them why. In this industry, you usually get exactly what you pay for.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BRIDES

How far in advance should I book my wedding cake?

As soon as you have a date. Seriously. Peak wedding season in Connecticut — late spring through fall — books up fast. Most couples book 6 to 12 months in advance. If your date is coming up sooner, reach out anyway and we'll do our best.

Do you deliver to my venue?

Yes. We deliver and set up wedding cakes throughout all of Fairfield County, all of Connectinut and Westchester County — Greenwich, Westport, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Weston, Fairfield, Trumbull, Monroe, Shelton, Ridgefield, Newtown, Norwalk, Stamford, and everywhere in between. We also travel to Westchester County and The Hamptons for the right wedding.

What if I want a dummy cake?

We'll have an honest conversation about whether that actually makes sense for your budget. (Spoiler: it usually doesn't if you're still serving cake to guests. Read our blog post on exactly why.)

Can I bring inspiration photos?

Please do. Pinterest boards, magazine tears, Instagram screenshots — bring everything. We'll look through it together and find the through-line of what you're drawn to.

What does the consultation look like?

You come to our studio in Stratford. We sit down, we talk about your wedding, we taste cake together, and we start building your vision. It's one of the most fun appointments you'll have in the whole wedding planning process — couples tell us this all the time. Book your tasting here.

VENUS WE KNOW AND LOVE

After 20 years of delivering wedding cakes across Connecticut and Westchester County, we know the venues, the layouts, the loading docks, and the coordinators.

We've worked with venues across Fairfield County, including properties in Greenwich, Westport, Darien, Ridgefield, Monroe, Danbury, Shelton, Trumbull, Fairfield, Norwalk, Stamford, and beyond.

When your baker knows your venue, everything runs more smoothly on the day. That experience is part of what you're booking.

Our cakes are included in the wedding packages of venues like Rolling Hills Country Club and the Trump National Golf Club.
We are a preferred vendor at Inn the Longshore, New Haven Lawn Club, Aria, Delamar Southport, Delamar Mystic, Lounsbury House, Patterson Club, Waveny House, and many more!
